How we did the math
We start with each department's net cost in the FY2027 adopted budget: what it spends, minus the fees, grants and charges it brings in. A department's share of your County tax is its net cost divided by the net cost of all of them together.
Departments that fully cover their own costs, like the Register of Deeds, don't draw on your County tax, so they aren't listed.
Your amount for each line is your County tax multiplied by that share. We round every line to the nearest cent, then settle any leftover pennies so the lines add up to exactly your County tax. Not a cent more or less.
The budget's own example is a home with $359,000 of taxable value. At the FY2027 rate that's a County tax of about $2,068, which is why it's one of the sample amounts.
